We Used to Live Here

WOW. WOW. WOW. I can\’t stop thinking about this book. The whole way through you\’ll be asking yourself, is this real? or not real? The ending will make you mad, but I loved the interactive side of it, the code breaking, figuring out morse code and deciphering the map was such a fun caveat to simply reading the book. I will be pondering this one for the foreseeable future

The Unworthy

I read Tender is the Flesh by this same author a few months ago and really loved her writing. This is a horror that follows a woman through her time at a convent after the world has succumbed to global warming. But is the sisterhood she joined REALLY being honest about the state of the world outside the convent walls? A lot of political parallels and through provoking scenes with a side of horror. I recommend, but check your trigger warnings on this one! The ending is brutal.

Dungeon Crawler Carl

by Matt Dinniman

Oh my gosh this book was so FUN. I listened to it on audio (highly recommend) and the narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. The world ends, and turns into a giant video game. You follow Carl and his ex girlfriend\’s cat, Doughnut as they make their way through the levels of this new world. Think Hunger Games, but with way more comedy and a video game POV.

The Escape Artist

by Jonathan Freedland

I can\’t believe it\’s not mandatory to read this book in history classes–a wild story about the first man to break out of Auschwitz and warn the world of the horrors that were happening there. A story of unimaginable strength and resilience, this goes beyond the things we read in Anne Franks diary or Schindlers List. When you think of the big names of this time period, Rudi Vrba should be one of them.

The Poppy Fields

by Nikki Erlick

This was such a beautiful story that makes you think–is love worth the pain you feel when its loss? Would you choose to heal your heartbreak with the possibility of losing all feeling for a person as a side effect? Or is the pain worth it to feel the love? Very thought provoking, and a very interesting and unique plot.

A Curse Carved in Bone

by Danielle L. Jensen

I was slightly disappointed in the pace of this book compared to the first one. The first one was so much harder for me to put down than the second. Still a great story but I wasn\’t hooked so much until the HUGE PLOT TWIST I didn\’t see coming. I did like the ending and overall this duology was good.

A Not So Meet Cute

This book was super funny and definitely spicy… Fake dating troupe and guy falls first? Classic rom-com! Think this would actually play out well in a movie. Not sure if I\’ll read the sequels to this but still a fun little romance.

2nd time reading this book to prep me for starting the second book and it is STILL a 5 star read! I love Nordic mythology books and this one is just written so well. It\’s hard to put down even on a re-read!

The Women

by Kristin Hannah

I listened to this on audiobook. Julia Whelan as a narrator may be my absolute favorite. But onto this story… Kristin Hannah\’s historical fictions are just SO spot on. I learned so much from this book that I never would have. Her mix of real and fiction just makes it so heartbreaking and intense but it definitely helped shine a light on what those who were in Vietnam went through while there and after they returned. Great book.

The Summer of Broken Rules

by K. L. Walther

I got this one off prime reading and have never read anything by this author before but I really enjoyed it! As a girl who grew up with little summer romances while spending weeks away from home, this was very relatable and cute! Add to it the intense game of Assassin (for me, was Mafia!) and a bunch of T Swift references/inspirations… come on! So cute, I loved it.
